Vegan Etsy. It's quite a simple concept and puts the power in the hands of the maker. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent browsing Etsy searching for vegan this or vegan that. Oftentimes sellers don't blatantly label their products so I'm left wondering if that material is animal friendly or not. Even the truly vegan brands can get lost amidst a sea of similar products. Etsy is great once you build up a following, but beginning struggles are common for merchants as are the fees (listing and percentage) charged.
That's where Vegan Unite comes in. Started by actress, vegan and all around compassionate girl Cosondra Sjostrom, it's a vegan and cruelty-free marketplace for sellers and buyers to connect, just niche enough to serve as a destination for kindly handmade vegan goods. It officially launched today, and there's no limit to the types of products that can be sold.
Food, toys, kits, makeup, candles and even beer have a place on Vegan Unite. My personal faves are the Terrariums by Shop Succulents.
Shopping is easy, and setting up a shop is easier! All you need is a PayPal account and to register as a merchant where Vegan Unite takes a 5.7% fee from each transaction. No listing fees are charged ever.
When asked what sets Vegan Unite apart, owner Cosondra says "As a marketplace, Vegan Unite empowers shoppers to help promote the lives of like-minded people by purchasing from them. As a community we need to support each other and start to create the change that we want in the world. It's an evolution, this is just another step forward."
There's no denying a personal touch is worth something- that's what has made Etsy so successful. Vegan Unite is the perfect platform to not just connect vegans, but to build community. We're all living this life, why not share it with others?
Check out Vegan Unite for yourself and spread the word to your maker friends. If I was handy enough to craft, cook or design something myself I would open a shop. For now, supporting others with a similar aesthetic and outlook will have to do :)
I like pink things and glittery things and twirling things. I like them even better if they sing and wear a ring.
