Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask

When you need a pick me up, what do you do?

Personally, I give myself a mini facial with Ren's Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask. Holy moly is this my holy grail.

I have a tiny obsession with beautiful and clear skin, probably fueled by my years of acne.

I'm a loyal shopper. If I find a product I like that works I will continue to buy it until it's discontinued. It surprises me I haven't been compelled to write this sooner, but here we are. Ren, a clean skincare company, makes plant-based skin products for the scientifically inclined. I can care less about science so long as a product works, which I can assure you this does.

A mask that promises radiance, better skin and fading of dark spots? We've all seen that before. This is the only one I've used that delivers on its promise time after time. It's my ultimate holy grail.

As an abashed acne sufferer for most of my life, I've used several prescription tropical treatments. They solved the problem, but we all know how icky their ingredients are.

Thanks to acne and my unnecessary impulse to pick at my skin, I always have red marks on my face that need fading. I'm so fair that sometimes I think my skin is see through. I also almost always have a bump (let's be real- several bumps) that need to be gotten rid of.

Shut up about you, what about the Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask??

I've turned to Ren's mask over the years as a last step to correct my marks and give me the pick me up I so deserved. However, recently I've decided to make it my first defense against acne. What does that mean?

Instead of using it the once a week that's suggested, I've been masking it up on a daily basis for the past week. And it's been working like a charm!

A cocktail of four acids including glycolic acid from pinneapple, lactic acid from passion fruit, citric acid from lemon, and tartaric acid from grape create multiaction exfoliation. It lifts dead skin and resurfaces to dramatically improve skintone, texture, firmness, and radiance, while minimizing the appearance of pores and reducing sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and old acne scars.

It comes in a pump which I really like. How you use it:

  1. Put a generous layer over your face and neck after cleansing
  2. Leave it on for ten minutes
  3. Rinse off gently
  4. Moisturize

I use Argan oil because it works best with my skin. Sometimes as I'm hopping into bed I'll slather on some Jojoba too.

This mask increases your sensitivity to the sun so don't think about leaving the house without SPF.

They don't recommend using this on sensitive skin, but I have the most sensitive you can have and it's been fine. Literally, my skin is so sensitive if I scratch an area it leaves a red mark immediately that lasts for hours. So if you have finicky skin, I wouldn't shy away from this mask because it's exfoliating in all the right ways.

That said, I only use it as a night mask. I find it's most effective when done before I go to sleep so that when I wake up my skin is transformed.

I totally realize I sound like a commercial but I am so passionate about this mask I should probably buy stock in their company.

Since it does make my face red and sun-sensitive I use it only at night, duh :)

I personally leave it on for thirty minutes to an hour and let it do its magic.

Immediately after removing the mask, I have found it:

  • Unclogs pores
  • Gives me a red glow (my skin has a pink undertone naturally so this is expected)

The morning after:

  • My skin is smooth, the texture is supple
  • Any pimples I had have come to a head
  • My skin tone is more even

Truth: when I wake up, all I do is feel my face. Obsessive much??

My skin has been rescued thanks to using this mask on a daily basis. Obviously, daily use of a mask like this isn't a long-term solution, but for those seeking the illustrious "quick-fix", give this a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I'm so enamored with Ren that I recently purchased their ClearCalm mask and (now discontinued) AHA Resurfacing Concentrate. Fingers crossed they work wonders like this mask!

To note- not all of their products are vegan. They have a list of the non-vegan items in their FAQ here. Luckily, it's a short one!
